Distributive Property of Multiplication - This states that you can multiply the addends of a number and then add the products.
Decompose - To break numbers down into parts.
Estimate - Rounding factors to their greatest place results in this.
Factor - A number that is multiplied by another number.
Multiple - The product of a number and any whole number results in this.
Partial Product - Finding the product for the tens and ones separately, then adding them together results in this.
Regroup - Uses place value to exchange equal amounts when renaming a number.
Associative Property of Multiplication – the grouping of the factors does not change the product.
Commutative Property of Multiplication – the order in which two numbers are multiplied does not change the product.
Identify Property of Multiplication – when a number is multiplied by 1, the product is that number.
Decompose – to break apart a number.
Dividend – a number that is being divided.
Divisor –the number by which the dividend is being divided.
Factor – the number that divides a whole number evenly. Also a number that is multiplied by another number.
Fact Family – a group of related facts using the same numbers.

Commutative Property of Addition -- the property that states that the grouping of the addends does not change the sum
Identity Property of Addition -- for any number zero plus that number is that number
Equation - a sentence that contains an equal sign (=) showing that two expressions are equal
minuend - the number from which another number is subtracted
subtrahend -- a number subtracted from another number
unknown -- an amount that has not been identified (un- means not)
variable -- a letter or symbol used to represent an unknown quantity
digit - A symbol used to write numbers. The ten digits are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9
expanded form - The representation of a number as a sum that shows the value of each digit (536 is written as 500 + 30 + 6)
is equal to (=) - Having the same value. The = sign is used to show two numbers or expressions are equal.
is greater than (>) - An inequality relationship showing that the number on the left of the symbol is greater than the number on the right (5 > 3)
is less than (<) - An inequality relationship showing that the number on the left side of the symbol is less than the number on the right side. (4<7)
number line - A line with numbers on it in order at regular intervals.
period - the name given to each group of three digits on a place-value chart.
place value - The value given to a digit by its position in a number.
standard form - The usual way of writing a number that shows only its digits, no words.
word form - The form of a number that uses written words.
