PTO Meeting Minutes

September 30, 2020

6:00 pm

Attendance: Heather Adams, Kelly Neely, Hollie Jones, Deb Noll, Dan Noll, Cici Pleitez, Jordan Carr, Leyna Rodriguez, Maria Williams, Christina Almoney

1. There have been no gatherings due to COVID-19
2. First Day of School

1. Teacher’s back to school gift from PTO was “Can’t mask the love for my students” shirts
2. Had balloon arch for the kids
3. New parent Zoom: went well, lots of questions
4. Back to School Zoom was well attended

   III. R&K Sub Sale

1. Sold more than our goal, $1,400+

1. Sold 235 subs and 400+ pretzel sandwiches
2. 44% profit
3. Some people made donations instead of purchasing subs

2. Sub delivery 10/1; pickup from 2 to 4 pm

  IV. Socktober

1. We collect sock and hygiene products
2. Started on 10/4 last year
3. Heather will talk to Mrs. Smith to see if we are collecting this year

   V. Fall Festival

1. Food Trucks

1. Have food trucks in the parking lot, set up tables and chairs for families to eat

2.  Trunk or Treat

1. Each class trunk would have to be put together by one family only; no mixing trunks

3. Activity during the school day 

1. Would need helpers with clearances
2. How could online families participate?

1. Maybe send a craft home

4. Possible send a survey to families to see what option they prefer

    VI. Clearances

1. How to get more people to get clearances?

1. Hold Zoom classes in English and Spanish to walk people through the process
2. Offer 5 service hours for getting clearances

   VII. Drive-in Movie Night

1. Have movie night outside and people can sit in their cars or on blankets

VIII. Pastries with Parents

1. No traditional Pastries with Parents
2. Possibly set up tables outside if it’s not too cold or have something in Brenner Hall depending on capacity restrictions

  IX. Book Fair

1. Virtual book fair held 10/31-11/13
2. Orders over $25 receive free shipping
3. The school receives a kickback
4. Had $1,000+ to use and Heather bought new library books

   X. Claire’s Gourmet

1. Next fundraiser with delivery before Thanksgiving

  XI. Laser Alleys

1. Will be held in November for anyone who would like to attend

 XII. Recess Volunteers Needed

1. Volunteers will receive double service hours 
2. Must have clearances

XIII. Race for Education

1. It will be held in the spring
2. Heather already took pictures of the children to use on the letters
3. Many volunteers will be needed closer to the event

XIV. Service Days

1. Ideas needed

1. Possibly have children make cards to send to nursing homes

 XV. How to involve new parents?

XVI. Social Media

1. Joined Instagram to Facebook

1. Analytics for September are up 227% over August

2. Healthy Kids Run Series

1. Held at Springettsbury Park
2. Have students participate and wear gym uniform or other HTCS clothing

3. Have Mrs. Smith send email to school community when students receive their First Communion or Confirmation
