Other Teaching Experience: I have taught vocal and instrumental music in public, private, and charter schools since 1997 in various states: North Carolina, Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. I taught 3
rd grade Math, Science and Social Studies in Puerto Rico for one year. In addition to teaching at Holy Trinity, I currently teach at York Area Repertoire of Dance in Spring Grove as well as private lessons at my home and at WAG Studios in Dallastown.
Professional biography: For over 22 years, I have been a classroom and private music instructor in various areas of music across the country. I have taught all ages and all genres of music. I have been teaching a Broadway style class at YARD dance studio for the past 6 or 7 years. I have even been a substitute teacher as well as taught elementary math, science, and social studies.
Service to the community: I have been very active in the local theater community by performing and directing in various shows with Weary Arts Group (WAG), Dreamwrights, and York Little Theater (now Belmont Theater). I have served as troop leader for my daughter’s Girl Scout Troop and Den Mother for 5 years for my son’s Cub Scout den. For the past 3 or 4 years, I have served on the board of the York Youth Symphony Orchestra and spent some of that time as their secretary. I have also volunteered in various capacities at my church: Mt. Zion UCC.
Personal biography: I grew up in various parts of North Carolina and consider most of the state my home. My parents and siblings live on the Outer Banks where I get to visit them about twice a year. My husband and I have had the fortune to live in various states: Puerto Rico, Indiana, and Michigan. We moved to Pennsylvania 8 years ago when he began working at York College. I have two children who are very active in the dance and theater community in the area: Catie 13 and Will 11. While teaching is my passion, I love to travel and perform whenever I can.
